Hallway Interior Design
Hallways are often neglected spaces, and this one was no exception having been stripped of much of its character by previous owners.
Our client requested us to transform what was a bland white hallway into a richly atmospheric interior that took inspiration from the 1930’s gothic stained-glass windows – one of the property’s few remaining original features.
Panelling is an excellent way to add character to an interior, but can be costly. Mock-panelling provides a more budget-friendly option and if done well, as the transformed hallway design shows, is hard to detect from the real thing. Good design is always in the detail and our panelling scheme includes a matching panelled radiator cover to disguise a modern, thermally-efficient radiator.
A new character-grade oak floor, gothic arched cornice and Victorian style cast iron wall lanterns and coat hooks develop the gothic element of the design brief.
Jungle-Influenced Ensuite
The owners of this ensuite wanted its design to suggest an outdoor shower within the jungle.
Our ensuite design incorporates two distinct zones: a slate tiled wet zone with both ceiling fixed and wall mounted showers (to reflect the different showering preferences of our clients); and a green tiled dry zone with a custom solid oak vanity.
The unlacquered brass showers and taps will develop a patina of age over time and were selected to enhance the sense of showering outdoors amongst nature.
Installing a new spotlight and shelves within an existing niche, and styling these shelves with a profusion of fake plants, transforms a useful storage zone into an impressive architectural focal point.
Study – Living Room Interior Design
The transformation of an underused spare bedroom into a classic yet characterful study-living room with nods to both French Provincial and traditional English country house style.
Living-Dining Room Interior Design
The decision to extend meant that what had previously been a kitchen-living-dining room, could become a spacious living-dining room. The brief was to design a sophisticated, classic, uncluttered scheme, that would emphasise the sense of space.
The creation of two large built-in storage units (a cupboard by the front door and a bespoke media unit incorporating a reclaimed travertine fire surround) ensures a functional, practical space, whilst achieving the desired minimal look.
The bioethanol fire is the perfect solution for achieving a real fire in homes without a chimney or gas flue.
A bespoke steel staircase creates a striking focal point that zones the room into a dining /working space and relaxing space.
Tiny Cloakroom Design
The transformation of a tiny downstairs lavatory into a glamorous yet playful Hollywood Regency style guest cloakroom.
Although a fantasy space, the room still needed to be practical: the brass tap is tall so hands can easily fit underneath it (essential with tiny basins) and the £19 IKEA rug is washable. Carried out on a strict budget, the marble basin was sourced by Alison for just £30.
Bedroom Interior Design
This bedroom features an antique oak four poster bed and 18th Century oak chairs that the clients had inherited and wanted to keep; yet were unsure how to include in a design scheme that reflected their preference for bright, cheerful interiors. Bespoke drapes and an upholstered headboard help soften the expansive oak bed, and colourful fabric choices illustrate how even very dark, traditional antique furniture can be successfully refreshed and given a new lease of life.
Serene Guest Bedroom Interior Design
The ideal guest bedroom should be a welcoming and comfortable space that allows all visitors to feel relaxed and at home.
The interior of this light and airy guest bedroom has been thoughtfully designed to include blackout lined curtains, a comfortable bed with quality linens, suitable lighting and generous storage.
Selecting a wardrobe in a similar colour to the walls prevents this large item of furniture dominating the space, whilst also allowing the Nina Campbell curtains to take centre stage.
The soft neutral colour palette creates a calming atmosphere with black and blue accents providing contrast and personality.
